Strike demo arrangements for Thursday

Dear colleagues,

All the arrangements are now confirmed for the London demonstration next Thursday – a poster and some postcards were posted to all schools yesterday and NUT HQ is sending a postcard to all London members at their home address.

It is really exciting to be using Trafalgar Square for the rally, having been refused in the past, and we need to make sure we fill it so please do everything you can to encourage school groups to attend.

Some important requests

1. Stewards
As ever, we will need to steward the march and rally ourselves, so please can you ask colleagues to volunteer. The most important part of the stewarding this time will be in Trafalgar Square at the end of the march. We will hold an important stewards briefing at 10:30am at the assembly point on July 10th – please pass on this information to your colleagues.

2. Leaving Trafalgar Square
One of the conditions of using the Square is that we “leave it as we found out” which is not unreasonable. Essentially this means we are responsible for making sure there are no placards, flags etc left lying around at the end – there will be recycling points in the Square but please could you pass a message on to colleague to take things home with them or to one of the recycling points. We want to be able to use the Square again.

I think we are going to have a great day on July 10th and look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,
