The STRB has recommended a 1% pay award for teachers in September, which is insulting enough.
However, to add injury, they have recommended that the increase is only applied to the minimum and maximum pay levels – allowing schools to decide whether to add 1% to any pay levels in between.
This opens the door to the rationing of the annual “cost of living” award, and to it being used as part of PRP.
Michael Gove has accepted the recommendations.
