Dear NUT representative
Thank you so much for everything that you’ve done so far to prepare for the 26 March strike. Michael Gove yesterday squandered the last chance he had to avoid the strike – read our report of the talks at http://www.teachers.org.uk
March and rally on 26 March
Please talk to your colleagues about preparations for the strike and about attending a strike day rally on 26 March. These are taking place all around the country – you can find details here. The page is updated regularly so please check back before strike day to make sure you’ve got all the information you need.
View our videos
Encourage members to view our strike 26 March video to hear from their colleagues about why they’re striking. There is a surprising message from a young Michael Gove at the end of this video. Please also encourage members to view our video about engaging parents and the public, which can be found here and which shows the level of support that parents and students have for teachers and for NUT campaigns.
Increasing hours and declining pay
We’ll be posting more reasons to strike on our website over the coming days so please check back regularly. Right now go to MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from “list.para-mail.co.uk” claiming to be http://www.teachers.org.uk/protect-teachers to see “Increasing hours versus declining pay” – our graphical description of how teachers are working more for less. You can tweet and Facebook these images.
We are sending you a new strike poster, which we expect you to receive on Friday 21 or Monday 24 March. You can download a copy here for noticeboard display and to give to colleagues.
Encourage colleagues to join the NUT
Finally non-members can join the NUT and take part in the strike right up to and including on the day of the strike itself. They would be legally covered to take part in the strike. First-time members who join now on direct debit will pay nothing until 2015. Former members who come back to us can get 50 per cent off. Thousands of teachers have joined in the past few weeks.
