Five local events, all on Wednesday, show the range of active campaigns that you can get involved in. Plenty more in the next two weeks! Don’t forget to buy your ticket on-line here for the South London People’s Assembly on 7th December.

EVENTS LIST

Wednesday 20 November
11am – 1.30pm. Leafleting against the privatisation of the student loan book. Called by The Student Assembly Against Austerity. More info on Facebook. Meet at South Bank University in Keyworth Street, behind the London Road Building.

1pm onwards. Crown Post Office staff on strike from Lunchtime onwards over a pay freeze, plans to close and/or franchise 75 offices and cut up to 1,500 jobs. Offices in Rye Lane SE15 and Lordship Lane SE22 closed. Please visit beforehand and express your support!

5.30pm – 7pm. Protest Lobby of Lambeth Council meeting: Save Brixton from Property Developers. Save Lambeth College in Brixton, No Bedroom Tax Evictions. At Lambeth Town Hall SW2. More details at http://lambethsaveourservices.org/

6.00pm. Southwark Save Our Services organising meeting – A speaker from ‘Save London’s Fire Stations 10’ campaign will introduce discussion on how to stop closure of Southwark Fire Station, planned for January. Venue: Walworth Methodist Centre, 54 Camberwell Rd, London SE5 0EN. All welcome – email to southwarksos@gmail.com for an agenda.

Thursday 21 November
7pm. Lambeth Keep Our NHS Public campaign organising meeting at Duke of Cambridge pub, 74 Lansdowne Way, SW8 2DR (5 mins from Stockwell Tube). As there is no Southwark KONP group, supporters are invited to attend your nearest group meeting. More details from lambethkonp@gmail.com

Tuesday 26 November
11.30am ‘Bring Down the Big Six: Fuel Poverty Kills’ protest against fuel poverty deaths. Called by Fuel Poverty Action, UK Uncut, the Greater London Pensioners’ Association and Disabled People Against Cuts. Meeting point in Central London at a pre-arranged venue (to be notified via Twitter at @fuelpovaction and Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/364663353679232/?fref=ts )

Tuesday 26 – Thursday 28 November
Judicial review of the Mayor’s decision in the high court on the plan to close ten London fire stations, including Southwark fire station. Details of lobby/protests to be announced. Contact

Tuesday 3 December
All Day. Strike by three university trade unions against successive pay cuts. Picket lines expected at all HE institutions including South Bank Uni, London College of Communication and Camberwell Art College. Send messages of support via southwarktuc@gmail.com

Saturday 7 December
10am – 5pm. South London Peoples Assembly Venue: Richard Hoggart Building (Main Building), Goldsmiths University, New Cross London SE14 6NW.
