Motion : Tabled at the Southwark General meeting on 18/4/12 (Actual Motion in bold)
Southwark NUT calls upon our National Executive to meet with other Trade Unions in the Public Sector (PCS, Unison, UNITE, NASUWT, etc) to organise National united action to oppose the Government’s pensions reforms.
We believe that this action should be by the Autumn at the latest (when the NASUWT is planning action) – although the end of June has been mooted for a National Strike, once we have had some more Regional Strikes (outside London) in May
The TUC should be persuaded by the Executive to come back on board and participate fully in the struggle about pension reforms for Public Sector workers
Please discuss this motion with the members, especially in the light of likely Regional Strikes in May, and a PCS/UNITE/UCU strike on May 10th. You could also discuss the proposal going around for a national strike at the end of June and send feedback to secretary@southwarknut.org.uk. If you would like one of us to attend then please email.
