7000 marched in London yesterday and many more struck with 33% of schools closed, 33% affected and 33% fully open. Thank you to all members who argued for strike action and got reluctant members out. We now need to escalate this action to win and this will be hotly debated at NUT Conference this Easter. Please thank your colleagues for taking action and please continue to argue for bigger and longer action next time. In my view a two day national strike, on the lines of yesterday, if not bigger, with additional unions would:
*Bring the government back to the table
*Put pressure on other unions to join us as their members would ask what they are doing to oppose this government’s punitive pension measures
Here is an excellent video of the demo – which also explains wht we have to fight on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fA-vzrTJxJ0
